I became interested in massage therapy after receiving a Cranial-Sacral Balancing session in 2005 with an intuitive healer that changed my life. I began my massage training in 2006 with a Thai Reflexology Certification in Chiang Mai, Thailand. My path then progressed to include Reiki: 2007-09 Reiki Training, Level 1 and 2 with Koko San at Reiki Kurama in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I completed my Reiki Master Teacher Training in 2009 with Lisa Belvoir at the Alternative Healing Center in Felton, CA.
After a few years of practicing reiki and reflexology for friends and family members, I realized I had found a passion. People were experiencing changes and healings from my work that I didn't understand, so I sought to deepen my knowledge of hands on healing arts and enrolled in 2009 The Wolrd School of Massage and Holistic Healing Arts in San Francisco, CA. In 2011, I completed their Professional Massage Therapy Program (616 hours), Energy and Somatic Massage Program (420 hours), with additional electives in Prenatal Massage, Elderly Massage, and Intro to Holistic Life Coaching.
Watching clients with recurring challenges and working with the subtle energies of the body as well as muscles and joints led me to explore some of the root causes of physical issues and symptoms people experience in their daily lives. Patterns of thought, speech, and emotion emerged as important factors in the outcomes people experience. A friend introduced me to the work of Robert Tennyson Stevens and Conscious Language. In 2011, I graduated through advanced coursework with Mastery Systems University, including Mastery/Mastery of Facilitation, Sacred Body Language Translation, Bio-Optic Holography, Language of Mastery Instructor Training, Outcome Facilitation, Imagination Activation, and Body Electronics. I love integrating these powerful coaching tools in my sessions.
My favorite modalities are Cranial-Sacral Balancing, Reflexology, Thai Yoga Bodywork and Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy. I incorporate these modalities into almost all of my sessions because I find them so beneficial. The Cranial-Sacral rhythm is deep in the body, so accessing it and following my client's inner wisdom to guide me in realigning the body in gentle and profound ways often results in dramatic increase in energy, happiness, and connection with Self and others. I often use Reflexology in my sessions because according to ancient eastern wisdom, the nervous system maps onto the feet and I can gain valuable information about my client's internal health from assessing reflexology points. I use this information to guide the rest of our session along with any intention my client has shared.
Thai Massage is at least 2500 years old--it is believed to have originated in India during the time of the Buddha as a method of medical treatment. It has been passed down through the ages and the gentle form I practice is called the Foundational Flow, distilled from the vast body of knowledge that Thai Massage incorporates by my teacher Michael Sitzer.
Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy was developed by Patricia Cramer, founder of The World School of Massage, and is based on the Fluid Body Model--a way of looking at ourselves and our bodies as fluid processes rather than static physical forms. VHMT is an intricate dance using techniques to support subtle release and integration through opening the joints and energy lines in the body.
I believe massage should feel good and produce good results. I believe in co-creating sessions with clients to make lasting life changes. I hope what I offer honors this experience and passes many benefits along.
I love horseback riding, bicycling, hiking, backpacking, swimming, and I sing with the Asheville Choral Society.
